How I’m spending my quarantine days

Selfies; who would have thought I would start taking selfies? Not me, but now I have found a way to make some good quality photos of myself and get a workout at the same time.

Stay at home!

Jairo and I are currently staying at the house of his mother, to take care of her. We don’t want her to leave the house to do groceries, just to make sure she will not get the Coronavirus.  The first few days were just like a quiet weekend, but then I started to feel like doing something that has been on my to do list for a while; photography. I’m human, I always compared myself to other people’s photos and didn’t feel confident I could add something new to this world. But this quarantine definitely opened my eyes; don’t care too much about what other people might think of your work. If you like it, do it!  I’m very grateful Jairo’s mother has a nice garden, and I had no idea that the surroundings of the house is so photogenic!

Selfie! But then a bit more work..

Even though I have a gorgeous husband, he does not like to be in front of the camera the whole day for me to test out the gear. So I started taking photos using the self timer. It’s not always easy to get the right angle, it’s a lot of trial and error and a lot of running back and forth. It’s like a free workout.

My passion Flamenco

Besides Fashion photography, my passion is Flamenco. I haven’t been dancing it for long, but I found the dance style I will never let go! I am taking classes at Carmen Romero Studio de Dança in Curitiba (Website). During the quarantine she offered online classes, so every day I have been dancing. I did have a week I couldn’t dance because of an old injury popping up again, so I had to use a neck brace, but from next week I will go full out again. I combined Flamenco with the self timer. I think these are my favourite photos. Hopefully soon I will have a closet full of Flamenco dresses.

Using props

At some point I have used every wall, every corner of the house, so I needed to find something else to be creative with. I found some nice old umbrellas and ladders. It’s fun to see what your brain can come up with, when you give it some space to think and create.

Dance Fitness

Also I decided to start filming Dance Fitness videos every week. You can find them on my YouTube channel. Hope you like it!

Learning Learning Learning.

When I am not dancing or taking photos, I am learning Portuguese, English, working out or watching Peaky Blinders and The Circle on Netflix.  We have been in Quarantine for 24 days now and it will probably be until the end of april, so a few more weeks to go. Can’t wait to shoot models!!
