Steffie da Costa
Fashion and Dance Photographer
Do you know that feeling that you never really know what you want in life? I have had this until very recently. I am now 28 years old and had to experience a lot of different things to get to the point I am right now.
When I was 16 years old, I had to make that big decision: what kind of study will I do? I chose a very save option; office management. I listened to what the market was asking for, I was not listening to my heart.
I have worked as a management assistant, secretary and as a sales & marketing employee. It took some time before I choose art, even though it has always been in my mind, but it is tough to decide to go for uncertainty.
“I haven’t danced everywhere, but it’s on my list.”
I went from management assistent, to dancer, to salsa teacher, to photographer. I have had a life full of twist and turns. I wouldn’t change a minute of it!
After deciding to choose to listen to my heart, I started working on my first big project called ‘Homanje’. Homanje is a silent dance film for charity and has been shown in various film houses in the Netherlands. Because of this project, I knew I wanted to do some with cameras. I worked at a media company for a while, which was one of the best experiences I have had.
With Dance Nomads I will focus on Fashion and Dance photography. The name Dance Nomads suits me well, because I love travelling and learn the ways of different cultures. I have lived in China, the Netherlands and now in Brazil.
I have worked with fashion brands like: All Out There Clothing and Lider X Falouer. I have worked with different talented models and dancers from all over the world. I want to add many more to this list! Maybe even you?
